Nolvadex (Tamoxifen)

It can be a pregnancy or breast-feeding. Also consult with medic before applying this medicine, if the patient is: pregnant or planning to become pregnant, breast-feeding, taking prescription or nonprescription medicine or herbal preparation, taking dietary supplement, allergic to medicines, foods, or other substances. Patients that in past had blood clots in the legs or lungs, patients with: high calcium level in blood, poor immune system, low white blood cells level, high level of cholesterol or lipid, vision problems such as cataracts. Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin), in combination with Nolvadex (Tamoxifen) may increase the risk of bleeding.

Cytotoxic cancer medicines (eg, cisplatin) can increase the risk of formation of blood clots if applied with Nolvadex (Tamoxifen).

Nolvadex (Tamoxifen)’s effectiveness will be lowered if will be taken with next medications: bupropion, cinacalcet, clobazam, duloxetine, fluoxetine, paroxetine, perphenazine, pimozide, quinidine, rifampin, sertraline, terbinafine, thioridazine, or ticlopidine. The combination with medications such as: Fluorouracil and Mitomycin C increases the risk of unwanted side effects. Always consult with doctor before applying this medicine or entering any changes in treatment with Nolvadex (Tamoxifen) drug. Drinking alcohol beverages during treatment with current drug will provide unwanted and unsafe to patient’s health side effects.

Side effects. As any other drugs a Nolvadex (Tamoxifen) medication can cause some side effects. Here is a list of most common and possible side effects that can be provided by this drug. Most common side effects’ list is pretty short, bone pain, cough, dizziness, hot flashes, muscle pain, nausea, tiredness, vaginal discharge, weight loss. Such effects are: observation of severe allergic symptoms; rash, hives, itching, a breathing difficulty, chest tightness, mouth, face, lips, or tongue swelling, unusual hoarseness, irregular menstruation, calf or leg pain, swelling, redness, or tenderness, confusion, coughing out blood, dark urine, decreased sexual desire or ability, depression, fever, chills, persistent sore throat, groin or pelvic pain or pressure, increased or painful urination, loss of balance or coordination, new or unusual breast lumps or pain, one-sided weakness, red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin, severe or persistent loss of appetite, nausea, or stomach pain, severe or persistent tiredness or weakness, shortness of breath, skin changes, slurred speech, sudden severe headache, swelling of the arms or the legs. Side effects can also provide high blood calcium level symptoms, for example; changed amount of generation of anurine by patient’s organism, increased thirst, irregular heartbeat, mental or mood changes, muscle aches or weakness, severe or persistent constipation or vomiting, unusual bleeding or bruising, unusual vaginal bleeding or bloody discharge, vision problems, yellowing of the eyes or skin.

Missed dose. First of all patients should carefully apply the Nolvadex (Tamoxifen) during whole treatment period. But if the dose has been missed, the missed part of dosage can be applied as soon as it noticed. And if the dose missing is remembered by the time of next dose applying, the missed part should be skipped at all. Never take an extra portion of Nolvadex (Tamoxifen) over the scheduled dose. If overdosed immediately call the doctor!
